Different Scalp Types

Normal Scalp

A normal scalp is a healthy scalp. It has right amount of sebum required and an ideal pH

Dry Scalp

Common symptoms of dry scalp would be to experience frequent itchiness and powdery flakes falling every time you scratch your scalp or give it a subtle shake. Dry scalp occurs when your pH levels are high resulting in the decrease of sebum production from your scalp. A less acidic scalp with low amounts of sebum finds it harder to keep bacteria away. This causes hair fall and other skin conditions. The dry hair is also more prone to breakage.

Oily Scalp

Common symptoms of oily scalp would be the clumping of hair, and the feeling of extreme grease as the day progresses. This happens when your sebaceous glands go into overdrive and produce more sebum required. The excess sebum coats onto your hair strands, making them greasy and also attracts dirt and other impurities. Many misunderstand oily scalp that it also triggers dandruff.

Combination Scalp

Combination scalp would be the mixture of both dry and oily areas across the scalp. Combination scalp is easily recognisable by the dull wiry texture of the hair. This happens due to the overactive sebaceous glands the poor condition of the scalp. This results in a glut of sebum created and absorbed back into the scalp, preventing essential oils from being absorb into the hair, causing dry and frizzy hair with extremely oily roots.

The Process

Scalp

We start off by giving you a scalp analysis to help you better understand your scalp situation. With this we are also able to tell your scalp condition and customise your scalp therapy treatment according to your scalp needs and requirements to better improve your scalp.

For this particular customer, her scalp was a combination of dry and oily on different areas as seen in the photo.

To begin her treatment, we start off with a high frequency detox. This toothbrush-like device helps remove and kill the germs and bacteria build up in the scalp.

After the high frequency detox, we gave her scalp a bubble cleanse, This bubble cleanse helps soften the oil clogs in the scalp and remove stubborn impurities present in the scalp.

Apart from enjoying a good head massage after a long week of work, this massage allows us to spread the bubble cleanse evenly throughout the scalp. This allows to every area of the scalp to absorb the bubble cleanse to entirely clear out the impurities in the scalp.

We proceed to give her hair a good thorough wash to wash out the impurities collected by the bubble cleanse. This cleanses out her scalp and preps its for the upcoming steps and absorbing of the treatment for its’ best effect on her scalp.

After the scalp prep, her scalp is now ready to absorb the other products we put onto her scalp. We used a customised scalp mask specially for her combination scalp. This scalp mask is rich in nutrients to help rebalance and maintain her scalp condition.

We take into consideration every individuals’ scalp condition and customise the scalp mask to achieve a perfect mixture for each persons’ scalp. It is only normal and natural for everyones’ scalp to be different from another. We assess with much consideration to how much the scalp can take and the issues the scalp may be facing.

Before setting in the scalp mask, we give the neck and shoulder areas a nice massage. Due to stress, it is normal for the shoulder to tense up. However, what many may not know is that the tensing of the shoulders affects the absorption of nutrients, and may be one of the reasons for oil clogging in the scalp. This massage allows better blood circulation with the pressure put into relaxing the muscles. This allows the scalp to better absorb the nutrients in the scalp mask.

We proceed to let the scalp mask sit into her scalp with a quick steam.

The moisture-based heat softens the pores of the scalp, allowing the scalp mask to reach deeper into the scalp. Scalp steaming also aids in increasing blood flow, intensely nourishing the hair, and increasing the elasticity and moisture retention of the hair.

Don’t be fooled by this small toothbrush! This small toothbrush works miracles. To ensure the scalp is cleansed and has deeply absorbed the treatment mask, we use this brush to exfoliate any stubborn oil clogs and impurities that we may have missed after the many cleansing methods. This is a safety step to ensure that your scalp is clear of the impurities and clogs that you came in with.

To finish off the whole process, we give both the hair and scalp one last wash to wash out any remaining product or impurities stuck onto the hair.

Voila! You have completed your very first scalp therapy treatment with us and your scalp is ready to face the world!

Maintaining your treatment

Maintaining a scalp treatment is important to ensure that your scalp remains healthy and free from any issues. Here are some tips on how to maintain a scalp treatment:

  1. Avoid using harsh hair products: Use hair products that are gentle and free from harsh chemicals, sulfates, and parabens. These can strip your hair and scalp of its natural oils, leading to dryness, irritation, and dandruff.

  2. Keep your scalp clean: Wash your hair regularly with a gentle shampoo that is suitable for your hair and scalp type. This will help to remove any dirt, oil, and product buildup, keeping your scalp clean and healthy.

  3. Avoid using hot styling tools: Heat styling tools like flat irons, curling irons, and blow dryers can damage your hair and scalp, leading to dryness and breakage. Try to limit the use of these tools and always use a heat protectant product.

  4. Protect your scalp from the sun: Exposure to the sun can damage your hair and scalp, leading to dryness, sunburn, and other issues. Wear a hat or use a hair product with UV protection when you are out in the sun.

  5. Massage your scalp: Massaging your scalp regularly can improve blood circulation, promote hair growth, and relieve stress. Use your fingertips to massage your scalp gently for a few minutes each day.

  6. Keep your hair and scalp moisturized: Use a good quality hair oil or leave-in conditioner to keep your hair and scalp moisturized. This will help to prevent dryness, itching, and dandruff.

By following these tips, you can maintain a healthy scalp and ensure that your scalp treatment is effective in promoting hair growth, reducing hair fall, and improving the overall health of your hair and scalp.
